Barely 48 hrs after the management of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) Issued a 7-day ultimatum, petitioning the Abia State government over a Suspicious Financial Transactions(SFTs) dating 2015 to 2019, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has responded to the Whistleblowing Network.
The Governor in a two-paged letter addressed to the Network by the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, stated that, all its State transactions are subjected to peer and regulatory review from time to time.
Ikpeazu added that, his State has maintained transparency in all its transactions, with relevant audited financial reports regularly published on national dailies and the State’s website.
He also assured the Network that his administration will continue to run transparently while welcoming altruistic enquiries from well meaning citizens.
George Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) on its part, thanked the Governor and the government of Abia State for its swift response and commitment to transparency.
GUWN promised to juxtapose Abia state’s response with its underlying findings in the allegations and come forward with a conclusion within 4 days from receipt of the State’s letter,while assuring that its enquiry was in no way a witch-hunt or borne out of ill-feeling, rather a commitment to service of public interest and enabling transparency in governance.
