APC NEC MEETING:Buhari Extends Tenure for APC Caretaker Committe,Approves Expulsion of Party Stalwart

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, held its emergency meeting.

The meeting which took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa Abuja, was  attended by President Muhammadu Buhari,  Vice Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo.
Others in attendance include members of the Mai Buni led National Caretaker Committee, Governors elected under the party platform. States chairmen of the party, zonal leaders and other members of the NEC are attending virtually.

At the meeting ,the Committee resolved to extended the tenure of the Buni led National Caretaker Committee until June 30, 2021.

The Buni led Caretaker Committee was set up to oversee the affairs of the Party following the dissolution of the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC). It also had the mandate to reconcile aggrieved members and conduct national convention within six months.

Following the  failure of the committee to announce plans for the party’s convention, as the six-month tenure elapses this December, there were clamours for the Committee members to resign or their tenures extended.
On Tuesday, however, the APC NEC announced the extension of the Caretaker Committee tenure to enable it meet up with its responsibilities of conducting a convention.
The Tuesday meeting also saw to the expulsion of a former National Vice Chairman, South-south, Ntufam Hilliard Eta

Confirming Eta’s expulsion,Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, that the party approved the expulsion of Eta for his failure to withdraw the court case instituted against the caretaker committee.
