Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP),Muhammad Adamu for another 3 months.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Dingyadi said the extension was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor.
Adamu’s tenure as the Inspector-General of Police, officially expired on Monday, February 1,2021, marking the completion of his 35 years in the force.
President Muhammadu Buhari was expected to have named a Adamu’s successor but was incidentally in his home state Daura Katsina State on that day.
