#EndSARS: Thugs beat up pastors, adopt three during Christian procession in Kogi State

Some suspected political thugs have on  Monday, stormed the Dunamis Church at Anyigba, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State and beat up the pastors, abducted three persons as they were holding a procession.

The thugs allegedly led by the former council boss of Dekina Local Government had violently disrupted a prayer walk organized by the Kogi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to pray for peace and God’s intervention in the country.

The thugs were said to have sporadically shot in the air and went straight to Bishop David Sanders, the Christian group leader, beat him up to unconsciousness, tearing his clothes.

Many women and children were beaten to stupor, and the properties of the Dunamis Int’ l church where the prayer walk was to be commenced from was thoroughly vandalized.

Three other church leaders, including Silas Edegbo, the prayer group’s zonal secretary, were later taken away to unknown destinations.

The resident pastor of Dunamis Int’ l church, during a phone conversation with newsmen, expressed sadness that a peaceful prayer walk by Christians for the nation could be disrupted and leave many with a different form of injuries.

He said the program organizers took permission from all bodies, including the police, and the deputy governor, Edward Onoja approved it.

In his words,” We are surprised that it is a past LG boss in the person of Ishaq Shuaibu Okolo who is contesting for the chairmanship Election for Dec 12 LG poll that has done this to the Christians

“This is not rumors. He was the one that physically led the thugs, including some vigilante members, to attack us, we have every document including video clips, and so he can not deny this,” he added

Confirming the adoption of three of its members, he said they were released in the early hours of Tuesday after being tortured thoroughly.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Onogwu Muhammed, the Governor condemned the act and promised to carry out a thorough investigation to fish out the crime perpetrators to face the full weight of the law.

The Governor noted that every religious organization is supposed to intensify in prayers for God to intervene in the affairs of the country at a time like this in the country.

Bello noted that such an act capable of truncating the peaceful religious gathering is unacceptable, sacrilegious, and repugnant.
