Exposed: How A Police Officer Owns Two 4-Star Hotels While in Service

The management of George Uboh TV, is in receipt of the petition filed by the chairman, George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN), Dr. George Uboh to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Dr. Uboh, had in the petition dated 1st February, 2021, wrote the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Dr. Ahmed Isa, of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Michael Anthony Ogbizi (Rtd), owning and operating Hotels while in active service.

Uboh’s petition is among others alleging that the DIG own and operate Hotel 45, situated at No.45 Ogbizi Street, Calabar, Cross-River State and another Hotel 45, situated at No.1, Etomi Road, Ikom, Cross-River State, while serving as a police officer, for which he allegedly failed to declare to the CCB in his form.

On February 2,2021, the CCB acknowledged receipt of Dr. Uboh’s petition on the Rtd DIG over “OWNING AND OPERATING HOTELS WHILE A SITTING DIG OF POLICE IN VIOLATION OF CCB ACT”.

The retired DIG, who hails from Bebuabung village in Obudu, Cross River State, had been appointed DIG in 2019 when Adamu also became the Acting IGP.

Other infractions committed by the DIG, revealed corruption, abuse of power, and gross misconduct as well as undue interference in cases reported to the police, derailing and compromising investigations for pecuniary gains, as well as siding with the wealthy and powerful in his investigation of cases.

Dr. Uboh prays the CCB to in line with the bureau’s Acts and in consideration of the Salary scale of police officers in Nigeria, draw an inference between Ogbizi’s questionable wealth and salary throughout his years of service.
