Armed bandits clad in military uniforms on Tuesday night, were reported to have invaded Government Science School, Kagara in Niger State, and abducted some students.
The bandits were said to have overpowered the security guards in the school before gaining entry and whisking away with the students.
A headcount was conducted in the school on Wednesday to ascertain the actual number of missing students, even as some students were said to have escaped after the raid.
A former senator, Shehu Sani, said the principal of the school confirmed the abduction, adding that the bandits abducted both students and staff of the school.
Security sources reported that security agencies were able to detect the coordinates of the area the students were taken to, and have started tracing the bandits’ movement while security aircraft have been seen hovering in the air to track the location of the students.
