Suspected Bandits Kill Three In Niger State

Three persons have been killed at Tashar Kare, part of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, by suspected bandits.

The suspected gunmen attacked the community in the early hours of Monday,.

The people who were killed include the younger brother and the son of Tashan Kare village head and a local vigilante member who works for the Tashan Kare community.

However, the eyewitness states that the bandits attacked the community on Saturday, where they rustled herds of cattle, but the Tashan Kare community members reinforced themselves and chased them.

They returned in the early hours of today when villagers were observing their early hour Muslim Prayers.

During the community attack on the Tashan Kare, at least eight people lost their lives, including some military men in August.

The latest attack triggered a protest by the vigilante group from the village to the police state in Kagara town to express their grievances towards what they described as a lack of efficiency on the part of security agencies to secure the lives’ properties the people.

The resident reacting to the incident told channel Television that there was an exchange of gunshots in the process of the protest between the men of the police at the station and the vigilante men, which resulted in the death of one person and three others injured.

He further stated that the Public Relations Officer, ASP Abiodun Wasiu, refused to pick his calls, which made an effort to complain to the police on the attack proved abortive.

However, some members of the vigilante group from Tashan Kare, Disin, have been reportedly killed by the bandits. Another died at kagara Divisional Police Station, and three other people wounded are currently taking their treatment.

The state of things now is following the order given by the District Head of Kagara Town, acting on Behalf of Emire of Kagara and the Local Govt. Chairman, which is to perform the three-person burial rites who lost their lives in the community.
