WATCH: Akpabio Dragged To Court Over Appointment of Sole Administrator For NDDC

Nigeria’s renown whistleblower and Chairman, George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN), has filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, seeking the the removal of the Sole Administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.

The suit numbered FHC/CS/11/2021, has under listed;
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari as Minister of petroleum resources,
The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami,
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio,
Mr. Effiong Akwa,Sole Administrator NDDC and
The Fiscal Responsibility Commission as 1st,2nd,3rd,4th&5th defendants respectively.

Dr. Uboh premised his petition against the defendants in reference to the codes of conduct as well the requirements contained in sections 2(1) of part 11 and 8(a)&(b) of the Niger Delta Development Act as Amended in 2000.

Mr. Effiong Akwa, Until his appointment was the Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, of the NDDC, under the erstwhile Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei-led Interim Management Committee (IMC).

His appointment was issued in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, which stated that, “Akwa would henceforth oversee the affairs of the Commission till the end of the ongoing forensic auditing of the interventionist agency.”
