We’ll Not Return To Nigeria-Mercenaries

Foreign military contractors earlier engaged by Nigerian government during the Goodluck Jonathan administration have vowed never to return.

This is coming days after North-East Governors urged President Muhammadu Buhari to use mercenaries to fight Boko Haram, following the massacre of more than 40 farmers in Koshebe village which drew in global condemnation

Prior to the 2015 general elections, Nigeria covertly brought in ‘military-technical advisers’ regarded as mercenaries from South Africa and the former Soviet Union. The fighters took the battle, dealing severe blows to the insurgents in Sambisa forest and other enclaves.

The mercenaries decry ill treatment of their personnel by the Buhari Government as reason for their not wanting to return to Nigeria

The facilitators of “soldiers of fortune” said; “In fact, some of our covert operations and activities of operatives in Nigeria including incurred casualties were exposed as working for mercenaries. Imagine that even highly classified and coded transactions for operational purposes were exposed as corruption.”
The source disclosed that some payments for operations executed are still outstanding.

The senior contractor stated that the mercenaries find it difficult to work in a country where their operations, strategy and thinking are exposed to the media and judicial processes.
